Stefan Bauer founded N8D in Vienna to combine his love for design, technology, and meaningful digital craftsmanship. His work blends sustainable design principles with modern front-end engineering, aiming to make digital experiences clearer, more accessible, and more human.

N8D stands for Night Design / Night Development — a name rooted in the after-hours passion projects that shaped Stefan’s early journey. Raised in Linz, Austria, he was drawn early to technology and visual design. Those interests grew into a career centered around design systems, front-end architecture, and Microsoft 365 user experience.

His early work includes the VizArts Project, an experimental platform for artistic collaboration that blended creativity with technology. In 2015, he formally established N8D as a company — building on a brand he first introduced in 2010. Since then, Stefan has been honored as a Microsoft MVP every year since 2016.

Today, Stefan works with global clients to build sustainable, flexible interfaces and UX solutions. His contributions to the Microsoft 365 Patterns and Practices (PnP) initiative and his open-source projects — including hTWOo and Old-Fashioned CSS Formatter — help developers design better and work more efficiently.
